Three Week Recap Part 3: Venturing Delhi-NCR!

Blog 10 - Three Week Recap Part 3: Venturing Delhi-NCR! Slideshow of the busy Saturday Night! For the past two weeks, I have been practicing Kho-kho during the first half of school, and on Friday we had a first match against another Amity school (has around 6 schools in Delhi-NCR region).   On Saturday, I went to school to get extra help on Economics as I am very behind because they started school in April and the syllabus is quite large and fast-paced, making it especially hard to comprehend in class without the extra help. After an hour and a half of eco. help, I took an auto rickshaw home and received an invitation from Reeta’s (from Finland) host mom, Sweta inviting me over to tour her publishers place (as she is an author) and then go out to dinner with them. Once I received permission, I used an auto rickshaw to get to the metro and got off at Rajiv Chowk, we went to her publishers building and was given a book, in which I thought of my mom right when I saw the...

Three Week Recap Part 2: Independence Week!

Blog 9 - T hree Week Recap Part 2: Independence Week! Slideshow of Pictures at the AFS Delhi Chapter Welcome Party!  A couple days before India’s Independence Day from the British, I received an email from the Department of State recommending Americans in India to “to keep a low-profile” and take precautions due to this patriotic celebration taking place on the 15th of August, but it is celebrated the whole week. I took this seriously but yet during this week I also did so much! On the Saturday before Independence Day, I went to the mall to get my host mother a birthday card, as well as go to Starbucks to study on my computer as the WiFi at home does not work. On that Sunday, it was my host mom’s birthday and we had to go to Ghaziabad (around two-hour drive) for the AFS Welcome Party, where I’d be reunited and meet everyone’s host families. Harry and I met up once before when going to a Hindi play and cruising downtown Delhi for an Adidas hat. They wanted to show me t...

Three Week Recap Part 1: Old Delhi & FRRO!

Blog 8 - Three Week Recap Part 1: Old Delhi & FRRO!     Slideshow of Pictures in Old Delhi! Being stuck at home on Monday due to food poisoning allowed me to finally be able to write blogs! Unfortunately, and with my luck, today was the first day of the kho-kho (an intense Indian game of tag and duck-duck-goose mixed) tournament at my school. In these past few weeks since my last blog, I have been unbelievably busy, so instead of writing specific blogs for all the things I have done, I’ll do a couple recaps, and in the future, I will make sure to not miss my Sunday blog time! One of the numerous things I love about India is that plans are spontaneous: from having nothing planned to doing almost everything; it suits my personality entirely! For example, for people staying longer than six months in India, they need to fill out a comprehensive and bureaucratic procedure at the FRRO (Foreign Regional Registration Office) within fourteen days of your arrival in Ind...
